Ernesto Burgos was born in 1979 in Santa Clara, CA, while in exile with his family from Chile. He later moved back to Santiago, Chile, spending his youth in Chile before returning to the United States for college, where he received his BFA from California College of the Arts in 2004 and his MFA from New York University in 2008. Burgos currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

Burgos has held solo exhibitions at The University at Buffalo Anderson Gallery, Buffalo, NY (2018); Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY (2017, 2014, 2012); Revolver Galería, Lima, Peru (2017); MIER Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2016); The Goma, Madrid, Spain (2015, 2012); and Halsey Mckay Gallery, East Hampton, NY (2013). He held a solo project at David Castillo Gallery, Miami, FL (2007), and a two-person exhibition with Aaron Raymer at Kate Werble Gallery in 2010.

His work has been shown at galleries and institutions including The Chimney (New York, NY); Halsey McKay (East Hampton, NY); Van Horn (Dusseldorf, Germany); Kunstmuseum Magdeburg (Magdeburg, Germany); El Museo del Barrio (New York, NY); NADA (New York, NY); Galeria Luis Adelantado (Valencia, Spain); Second Home Projects (Berlin, Germany); Apex Art (New York, NY); Ideobox (Miami, FL); Carol Jazzar Gallery, (Miami, FL); Locust Projects (Miami, FL); The Paper Mill Gallery (Sydney, Australia); and Casino Metropolitano (Mexico City, Mexico).

Burgos’ work has been reviewed in publications including The New York Times, Flash Art, The Huffington Post, El Cultural, Arte Al Día, TimeOut NY, Harper’s Bazaar, The Village Voice, and San Francisco Bay Guardian. His work is in the collection of the Kunstmuseum Magdeburg (Magdeburg, Germany).
